Disability Accommodations

ACU gives students with disabilities equal access under the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 (ADA) and Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973. Use the form linked below to request a reasonable accommodation for coursework, housing, or any other University program, service, or activity.

The Disability Coordinator handles requests. Submit the form below, or email disabilities@austinchristianu.org if you want to talk first.

What to expect

After you submit a request, the Disability Coordinator meets with you to review it and decide what accommodations fit your situation. You may need documentation of your disability. Each request is decided on its own; what ACU approves for one student does not set a precedent for another.

Submit as early as you can, before the term starts if possible. Accommodations take effect once approved and do not cover work you already completed, so a late request can leave part of a term without coverage.

Service animals

Service animals have a separate process and deadline. See Animals & Pets in the Student Handbook. To keep a service animal in student housing, contact the Dean of Men or the Dean of Women at least 60 days before you need the animal on campus. For an assistance animal, use the request form above. The handbook lists no separate route for those. Submit before the animal arrives: until ACU approves it, the animal is treated as a pet.

If something goes wrong

If you believe you were denied access or discriminated against because of a disability, you can report a concern or incident. You can submit the report anonymously.

The full policy is in the Disability Services section of the Student Handbook.
